St Mary's Tower, Burghfield
175 years after it was built, the church tower of St Mary's Burghfield was in urgent need of expert repair and renovation.
This was carried out efficiently and sympathetically by Stone Construction Ltd, under the supervision of Managing Director Andy Stone.
Liaising regularly with the Rector, Churchwardens and Parish Administrator, Andy and his team ensured that worship was able to continue throughout the restoration work.
Unexpected problems along the way, such as the dangerous condition of the old stone cross at the very top of the tower, were dealt with quickly,
and the tower emerged from its scaffolding safe, sound, clean and looking as good as new.
The ancient lych gate, which was also badly in need of restoration, has now been transformed by Stone Construction and, with its new slate roof, once again forms an attractive entrance to the churchyard.
The Rector, Parochial Church Council and congregation of St Mary's are delighted with all the work carried out by Stone Construction, and thoroughly recommend them to those responsible for historic buildings.
